Day 294: OCT 21ST: THE HAND OF GOD THAT BUILDS AND RESTORES

Scripture
Nehemiah 2:18
Then I told them of the hand of my God which was good upon me; as also the king’s words that he had spoken unto me. And they said, Let us rise up and build. So they strengthened their hands for this good work.
DAILY WISDOM
When God’s hand is on someone, ruins are rebuilt and glory is restored.
MESSAGE
The story of Nehemiah offers a clear image of restoration in the Bible. Jerusalem was in ruins, its walls broken and its gates burned. Generations accepted the devastation as permanent, but one man felt a burden from God. His burden drove him to a breakthrough, not through human plans but through the good hand of God resting on him.
Nehemiah 2:18 reveals this truth: “The hand of my God which was good upon me.” It wasn’t his speaking ability, the favor he had, or his administrative skills, though he possessed them all. It was the hand of God that made rebuilding possible. When God's hand is on someone, impossibilities fade, resources are released, helpers come forward, opposition quiets down, and ruins make way for restoration.
Throughout the Bible, the hand of God represents divine power in human affairs. In 1 Kings 18:46, we read, “And the hand of the Lord was on Elijah; and he girded up his loins, and ran before Ahab to the entrance of Jezreel.” By that hand, Elijah outran horses. What is impossible for a person becomes achievable when God's hand is involved. This shows that no ruin is too great and no wall too damaged when God’s hand is upon you.
The difference between effort and success is God’s hand. Many work hard but see little because they depend only on their own strength. Others rise above limitations because they are carried by God’s hand. Human strength will fail, but God’s hand never falters. Your wisdom might run out, but His hand stays strong.
Furthermore, God’s hand not only builds; it also protects what is built. Nehemiah and his people faced resistance from Sanballat, Tobiah, and others against their rebuilding efforts. Yet, because God was with them, their enemies could not succeed. They built with one hand and defended with the other, but behind both hands was the unseen hand of God ensuring their progress.
Today, many lives remain in ruins because they have not submitted to God’s hand. Some rely on their education, connections, money, or influence, but these have failed them. Others have been hindered by opposition. Still, God’s Spirit is saying to you: when My hand comes upon you, your ruins will come to life again, and your glory will be restored.
God’s hand makes the difference between just getting by and thriving, between shame and glory, between ruin and restoration. Don’t navigate life by your own strength. Seek His hand. Invite His hand into your family, your business, your ministry, and your generation. When His hand rests on you, everything broken will rise again, and everything lost will be restored with glory.
KEY LEARNING POINTS
- THE HAND OF GOD IS THE SECRET OF RESTORATION
Nehemiah 2:18, “Then I told them of the hand of my God which was good upon me… And they said, Let us rise up and build.”
It was God’s hand that inspired the people to rise and build. Without His hand, ruins remain unchanged. With His hand, rebuilding becomes a reality.
- THE HAND OF GOD EMPOWERS BEYOND HUMAN LIMITS
1 Kings 18:46, “And the hand of the Lord was on Elijah; and he girded up his loins, and ran before Ahab…”
What no one can achieve through their strength becomes possible when God’s hand is in play. The hand of God provides power beyond human limits.
- THE HAND OF GOD PROSPERS THE WORK OF HIS PEOPLE
Ezra 7:9, “…according to the good hand of his God upon him.”
Every successful rebuilding effort traces back to God’s hand supporting His people. Human effort without His hand leads to frustration, but His hand on your work brings success.
- THE HAND OF GOD SILENCES OPPOSITION
Nehemiah 4:15, “And it came to pass, when our enemies heard that it was known unto us, and God had brought their counsel to nought, that we returned all of us to the wall, every one unto his work.”
God’s hand thwarts the plans of enemies. Opposition may arise, but when His hand is with you, their schemes fall apart.
- THE HAND OF GOD RESTORES SPEED AND RESULTS
Isaiah 41:10, “Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.”
When His hand is active, delays vanish, and lost time is reclaimed. His hand restores speed and brings forth visible results.
- THE HAND OF GOD IS AVAILABLE TO ALL WHO SEEK HIM
Psalm 145:16, “Thou openest thine hand, and satisfiest the desire of every living thing.”
God’s hand isn’t just for a few. It is open to everyone who sincerely seeks Him. His hand satisfies and restores all who call on Him.
DAILY PURPOSE NOTE
The ruins in your life cannot withstand the hand of God. Seek His hand every day, rely on it completely, and let it guide you to restoration and glory.
