Dominion is not only declared from the throne; it also thrives at the altar. Without incense, the throne loses its scent. Without prayer, authority wanes. The hidden power behind kingship is the priesthood. The altar of incense preserves destinies, wins battles, and offers the fragrance of intercession to God.

In Scripture, incense symbolizes the prayers of the saints combined with divine fire. It represents passionate intercession, not dry requests, which rise as a pleasing aroma before the Lord. When incense goes up, heaven responds. When it stops, the atmosphere deteriorates and the enemy gains ground. Dominion is supported not just by commands on earth but also by incense in heaven.

Under the Old Covenant, the high priest had to burn incense continually before the Lord. This was a requirement, not merely a suggestion. The moment incense ceased, judgment followed. Similarly, in this New Covenant, believers must keep their altars warm. To stop praying is to give up territory. Ignoring intercession exposes one to unnecessary struggles.

The incense altar is personal, not public. It is fragrant, not flashy. True dominion is maintained not through loud appeals but through the quiet devotion of private worship. What people see in public comes from what God senses in private.

Every revival in history has come from the altar of incense. Every significant breakthrough has relied on priestly intercession. Every generational promise is sealed by prayers rising like incense. The enemy fears a believer who prays more than one who shouts. He trembles at incense because it rises to the throne and calls for divine help.

Beloved, your incense must stay alive. Your prayers should not be seasonal. Your devotion must not be occasional. Keep the fire burning morning and evening, day and night. Let your life be a constant offering of incense before the Lord. Dominion is maintained not by occasional cries but by steady priesthood. A king without incense will soon lose influence, while a priest with incense will oversee territories.

SIX CHARACTERISTICS OF THE ALTAR OF INCENSE

1. IT IS FUELED BY HOLY FIRE, NOT STRANGE FIRE

Leviticus 10:2, ‘And there went out fire from the Lord and devoured them and they died before the Lord.’ 

Incense must be offered with fire from God’s altar, not with human energy or strange motivations. 

1. IT RISES AS A SWEET FRAGRANCE BEFORE THE THRONE

Psalm 141:2, ‘Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.’ 

True prayer ascends as fragrance, bringing delight before the throne of grace. 

1. IT PRESERVES THE PRIEST AND THE PEOPLE

Numbers 16:48, ‘And he stood between the dead and the living and the plague was stayed.’ 

Incense halts plagues and provides protection over God's people. 

1. IT CONNECTS EARTHLY INTERCESSION WITH HEAVENLY RESPONSE

Revelation 8:4, ‘And the smoke of the incense which came with the prayers of the saints ascended up before God out of the angel’s hand.’ 

Every sincere prayer rises like smoke and triggers angelic response. 

1. IT MUST BE CONTINUAL AND NOT OCCASIONAL

Exodus 30:8, ‘And when Aaron lighteth the lamps at even he shall burn incense upon it a perpetual incense before the Lord throughout your generations.’ 

Incense loses its power when neglected; it must be constant, not seasonal. 

1. IT ENFORCES DOMINION OVER THE INVISIBLE REALM

Daniel 10:12, ‘Then said he unto me Fear not Daniel for from the first day that thou didst set thine heart to understand and to chasten thyself before thy God thy words were heard and I am come for thy words.’ 

Incense changes the atmosphere, removes demonic barriers, and opens angelic paths for dominion.
