Matthew 5:13 (NKJV)
“You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men.”
Teaching Message
Every Kingdom ambassador is called to make a difference. God sends His representatives into environments not just to take up space. He sends them to influence, to preserve, to shine, to restore, and to show His nature.
This is why Jesus called believers the salt of the earth. Salt does not exist for itself. It exists to affect anything it touches. It stops decay, improves the ordinary, and brings out what would otherwise be hidden.
Matthew 5:13 (NKJV), “You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men.”
Notice that Jesus did not say we should become salt. He affirmed that we are the salt of the earth. This is our identity. The question is not whether we have influence but whether we are using it faithfully.
Each day, God places us in situations where our presence should make a clear difference. Whether in our families, workplaces, businesses, schools, neighborhoods, or communities, we have been sent there with a special purpose.
Many believers, unfortunately, underestimate the importance of their daily lives. They think that Kingdom influence is limited to preaching or leading a ministry. Yet throughout Scripture, God often used ordinary people in everyday settings to achieve remarkable purposes.
Joseph influenced Egypt's economy through wisdom and integrity.
Daniel influenced an empire with excellence and unwavering devotion to God.
Esther influenced a nation through courage and obedience.
Nehemiah influenced a generation by leading with vision and faithful service.
Their influence was not random. It resulted from lives given to God.
The same applies today.
Kingdom influence starts long before we talk about Christ. It begins with the quality of our work, the integrity of our choices, the kindness in our words, the consistency of our character, and the compassion we show to others.
Matthew 5:16 (NLT), “In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.”
Our actions prepare hearts to receive our message.
People are often drawn to Christ because they first see His nature in His followers.
This means excellence is more than a work standard. It is a Kingdom responsibility. When believers consistently produce quality work, honor commitments, respect others, and solve problems wisely, they stand out as reliable representatives of Christ.
Ecclesiastes 9:10 (NKJV), “Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might.”
Whether the task seems significant or small, noticed or unnoticed, we honor God by giving it our best. Excellence reflects a God who never acts carelessly.
Kingdom influence also involves compassion.
Our Lord never ignored people. He saw the forgotten, reached out to the broken, welcomed the rejected, and restored the hopeless. His power always came with genuine love.
As His ambassadors, we must see people as He sees them. We must avoid being so focused on our schedules, ambitions, or personal success that we overlook those who need encouragement, kindness, or practical help.
Ephesians 4:32 (NKJV), “And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.”
Simple acts of kindness often open doors that arguments cannot. A kind response, a listening ear, an encouraging word, or a helping hand can express God’s Kingdom powerfully.
Influence is not about how many people know your name. It is about how many lives improve because God placed you in their way.
This is why Kingdom ambassadors must be intentional about adding value wherever they go.
When others create confusion, we bring clarity.
When others sow fear, we spread hope.
When others compromise, we uphold integrity.
When others complain, we work toward solutions.
When others seek recognition, we serve faithfully.
In doing so, we show the culture of the Kingdom we represent.
Our influence should not come from a need for applause. It should flow from genuine love for God and people. When our hearts remain pure, our influence becomes lasting because it points beyond ourselves to Christ.
First Peter 2:12 (NKJV), “Having your conduct honorable among the Gentiles, that when they speak against you as evildoers, they may, by your good works which they observe, glorify God in the day of visitation.”
What an amazing testimony. Even those who may initially oppose our faith can eventually praise God because of how consistent our lives are.
As you start this day, remember that God has placed you where you are for a reason. You are not there by chance. Your family needs your influence. Your workplace needs your integrity. Your community needs your compassion. Your generation needs your witness.
Do not underestimate the impact of one life fully given to God.
You are the salt of the earth.
You have been called to preserve what is good, reveal what is true, and show the beauty of Christ wherever He sends you.
