Teaching Message
Every ambassador must have a clear understanding of the nation he represents. He needs to know its values, culture, policies, priorities, and interests. Without this knowledge, he may genuinely desire to represent his nation well, yet misrepresent it due to ignorance.
The same principle applies to our relationship with God. Before we can truly represent the Kingdom of God, we must first understand it. An ambassador unfamiliar with the heart of his King cannot effectively fulfill the King’s assignment.
One of God's greatest desires is for His children to develop a Kingdom awareness. Many believers know God as their Father, Jesus as their Savior, and the Holy Spirit as their Helper. However, they often have only a limited understanding of the Kingdom they are called to represent. As a result, Christianity sometimes becomes about seeking personal blessings rather than advancing God’s purposes on earth.
The Kingdom of God is more than a future destination. It is God’s government, His rule, authority, ways, and will expressed in the hearts and lives of His people. Wherever God’s will is accepted, His righteousness is upheld, His peace reigns, and His purposes are fulfilled, His Kingdom is being revealed.
Luke 17:21 (NKJV), “For indeed, the kingdom of God is within you.”
The Kingdom first transforms the heart before it transforms the world. God starts His work in us so that He can reveal Himself through us. Before He changes our environment, He changes our character. Before He gives us influence, He teaches us obedience. Before He expands our assignments, He enlarges our capacity.
This is why Kingdom ambassadors must always keep growing spiritually. We cannot reveal what we have not learned, and we cannot reproduce what we have not become.
Romans 12:2 (AMP), “Do not be conformed to this world any longer with its superficial values and customs, but be transformed and progressively changed as you mature spiritually by the renewing of your mind, focusing on godly values and ethical attitudes, so that you may prove for yourselves what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.”
Notice the phrase, “progressively changed.” Kingdom growth is a continuous journey. Every day, the Holy Spirit shapes us to think, love, serve, and lead like Christ.
Understanding the Kingdom also shifts our priorities.
Many people spend their lives chasing things that cannot satisfy the truest needs of the human heart. Success, wealth, recognition, and possessions have their place, but they were never meant to be our top priority.
Matthew 6:33 (NKJV), “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.”
The Kingdom is not just an addition to life; it is the foundation for it. When God’s Kingdom takes first place, everything else falls into its proper order.
A Kingdom ambassador does not make decisions based solely on convenience, popularity, or personal gain. He asks deeper questions: “Will this honor my King? Does this reflect His Kingdom values? Will this decision further His purpose?”
This mindset impacts every area of life. It affects how we conduct business, relate to our families, manage finances, lead others, treat those who cannot repay us, and respond when we are misunderstood or hurt.
The values of God’s Kingdom often differ from those of the world. The world praises pride, while the Kingdom honors humility. The world pushes selfish ambition, but the Kingdom encourages sacrificial service. The world rewards revenge, but the Kingdom calls us to forgive. The world measures greatness by status, while the Kingdom measures it by faithful stewardship.
Mark 10:43-45 (NLT), “Whoever wants to be a leader among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first among you must be the slave of everyone else. For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
As ambassadors of the Kingdom, we are called to bring these values to every environment we enter. Our homes should reflect the culture of the Kingdom. Our workplaces should benefit from our honesty, hard work, and excellence. Our communities should experience the compassion, wisdom, and peace that come from lives dedicated to Christ.
People should notice something different about us. Not because we are trying to seem religious, but because the life of Christ influences everything we do.
The more we know the Kingdom, the better we represent it.
This is why studying God’s Word is essential. The Scriptures show us the mind of the King. They teach us His ways, correct our attitudes, strengthen our faith, and prepare us for effective Kingdom service.
Psalm 119:105 (NKJV), “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”
An ambassador who neglects the King’s instructions will eventually lose effectiveness. Similarly, believers who ignore God’s Word will struggle to represent Him accurately. But those who consistently learn His ways will become reliable representatives of His Kingdom.
Today, ask the Holy Spirit to deepen your understanding of God’s Kingdom. As your knowledge grows, your confidence will increase, your influence will widen, and your life will reflect the King you represent more clearly.
Key Learning Points
- YOU MUST KNOW THE KINGDOM BEFORE YOU CAN REPRESENT IT. Matthew 6:33 (NKJV), “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.”
- THE KINGDOM OF GOD BEGINS WITHIN BEFORE IT IS MANIFESTED WITHOUT. Luke 17:21 (NKJV), “For indeed, the kingdom of God is within you.”
- KINGDOM TRANSFORMATION BEGINS WITH A RENEWED MIND.
- THE VALUES OF THE KINGDOM MUST GOVERN EVERY DECISION YOU MAKE. Mark 10:43-45 (NLT), “Whoever wants to be a leader among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first among you must be the slave of everyone else. For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
- THE WORD OF GOD REVEALS THE HEART OF THE KING. Psalm 119:105 (NKJV), “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”
- KINGDOM PRIORITIES PRODUCE A WELL-ORDERED LIFE. Matthew 6:33 (NKJV), “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.”
- GROWING IN THE KNOWLEDGE OF GOD MAKES YOU A MORE EFFECTIVE AMBASSADOR. Colossians 1:10 (NKJV), “That you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God.”
