THE GREAT COMMISSION AND THE BELIEVER'S KINGDOM MANDATE

April 27, 2026Matthew 28:19-20

The redemptive journey does not end with your personal salvation. It opens into something far bigger — Kingdom responsibility.

Scripture Focus

Matthew 28:19-20

"Go ye therefore and teach all nations baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you and lo I am with you alway even unto the end of the world Amen."

Teaching Message

The redemptive journey does not end with your personal salvation. It opens into something far bigger — Kingdom responsibility. After the resurrection and the empowerment of the Holy Spirit, Jesus did not say "Now sit back and enjoy the blessings." He said go. Every believer is called to participate in the expansion of God's Kingdom. Redemption was never meant to stop with you. It is meant to flow through you to reach the world.

Matthew 28:18-20, "And Jesus came and spake unto them saying All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore and teach all nations baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you and lo I am with you alway even unto the end of the world Amen."

Notice how the commission begins: not with the instruction, but with the authority. "All power is given unto me." The sending flows from that authority. You are not going out in your own strength or on your own initiative. You are sent under divine backing. Heaven stands behind this assignment. You are not working alone.

And that word "go" — it implies movement, intentionality, action. The Kingdom does not advance through passive believers who sit and wait. It advances through men and women who step out, open their mouths, and carry the message of salvation to people who need it.

Mark 16:15, "And he said unto them Go ye into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature."

The scope is global. Every creature. Every community. Every nation. The gospel is not a local message — it is a universal one. And you, as a believer, are its carrier. The resurrection power you have received, the Holy Spirit who lives inside you — all of it finds its fullest expression when you are reaching lives with the message of Jesus Christ.

But the commission is not only about preaching. It is also about discipleship — teaching, establishing, building people up so they can stand and impact others.

Matthew 28:20, "Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you and lo I am with you alway even unto the end of the world Amen."

Preaching draws people in. Discipleship roots them. Teaching builds stability and produces maturity. When you invest in someone else's spiritual growth, you are participating in a cycle of Kingdom expansion that multiplies across generations.

And here is the part that should give you tremendous courage: this commission comes with a promise of presence.

Matthew 28:20, "Lo I am with you alway even unto the end of the world Amen."

Always. Not sometimes. Not when conditions are favorable. Always. The presence of Christ accompanies the mission. You do not go alone. You do not face resistance alone. His presence guarantees that supernatural results follow faithful obedience.

The early Church took this to heart. They preached with boldness, and God confirmed their message with power.

Acts 1:8, "But ye shall receive power after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem and in all Judaea and in Samaria and unto the uttermost part of the earth."

The Holy Spirit empowers witness — and witness is not limited to standing behind a pulpit. It includes your lifestyle, your influence, your conversations, and your character. You are a living testimony of redemption. Every interaction is an opportunity.

The Great Commission also carries eternal weight. There are rewards attached to this work that reach beyond this lifetime.

Daniel 12:3, "And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever."

Those who turn others to righteousness shine forever. That is the value God places on this assignment. It is not just important — it is eternally significant.

The apostle Paul felt this weight and lived under it daily.

1 Corinthians 9:16, "For though I preach the gospel I have nothing to glory of for necessity is laid upon me yea woe is unto me if I preach not the gospel."

There was an urgency in his spirit. The gospel was not optional for him — it was a burning necessity. And that same urgency should mark the life of every believer who understands what Christ has done.

2 Corinthians 5:20, "Now then we are ambassadors for Christ as though God did beseech you by us we pray you in Christ's stead be ye reconciled to God."

An ambassador represents a nation. You represent the Kingdom of God. Your words, your actions, your influence, your life — all of it should point others to Christ and draw them into reconciliation with God.

The Great Commission is the natural progression of everything this month has explored. The cross redeemed. The resurrection empowered. The Spirit filled. And now the believer is sent. The Kingdom must advance. Rise and fulfill this mandate with everything in you — with passion, with dedication, and with the unshakeable confidence that heaven is behind you every step of the way.
