James 1:5. If any of you lack wisdom
let him ask of God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him.
Wisdom means making good choices, facing challenges, and acting according to God’s purpose. James 1:5 teaches that if anyone lacks wisdom, they should ask God, and He will freely provide it. Ecclesiastes 10:10 states, “If the iron is dull and one does not sharpen the edge, he must use more strength; but wisdom is useful for direction.” Wisdom helps believers save effort, increase their impact, and achieve outcomes that reflect the supernatural.
Additionally, the Holy Spirit as God’s wisdom in action teaches discernment. He reveals when and how to approach each situation, ensuring every action is intentional and effective. Proverbs 3:19 tells us, “The Lord by wisdom founded the earth; by understanding he established the heavens.” This shows that all of creation operates by God’s wisdom. As His Spirit dwells within believers, they gain access to this divine principle, allowing them to navigate complexities with confidence.
The Spirit also connects wisdom with revelation, providing insights beyond human reasoning. Believers guided by this wisdom experience alignment with God’s plans, clarity in their decisions, and confidence in acting with faith. This wisdom creates influence, effectiveness, and spiritual authority, showing God’s mind in action on earth.
